Civil liberties and freedoms

I am a smoker, yes i know it cant be all that good for me but hey I dont drink or beat people up or steal from old grannies.
We have already had the indignity of being pushed out in the cold but now it seems that is not good enough.
Now I totally agree with keeping a distance from children, something I have always done from choice and most considerate smokers do too, and avoid crowds of people in doorways, its only polite if nothing else.
But how can a wisp of smoke be so damaging in the open air when you consider its a micro spit in the ocean in the grand scheme of things.  I mean how much of a percentage of cigarette smoke is there in a square foot of outside air say on Main st and Steeles compared to aviation out-spill and car and truck fumes not to mention the industrial pollution. And that's just the mechanics of it.
What about freedoms of choice? where will this nanny-ism stop. So many things, because political correctness or the powers that be knowing what is best for us, are in the firing line ,if not now then it wont be long before it comes to us all, smoking, drinking, sugar salt fast food. it will be like the film Demolition man..if the government deems something not good for you then it will be illegal?
We are going down a slippery slope my friends....mark my words , there will come a day people wouldn't mind a faint whiff of cigarettes if only to have their freedoms back.
